100 Hungarian documentaries 1936-2013

The 100 Hungarian Documentary Films (1936-2013) is not a documentary history in either the scientific or popularizing sense, and it does not intend to designate a top list either. The hundred works collected in thirteen thematic groups were the program of the film club of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. After the screenings, we recorded the professional discussions led by the moderators, and those interested can watch the edited video documentation on the mma-tv.hu channel. In order to facilitate the recall of the films, in this volume we have selected details from the conversations, from the reviews compiled for the film club, as well as from the reviews and interviews published in the press. We hope that the collection of texts created in this way can help all those who, despite all difficulties, organize community cinema trips (film clubs, library cinemas, unusual history classes) in order to bring old and new documentaries to the public.
