Sunlight, croissants and good wines. Nothing can stand in the way of the perfect vacation. Or yet? When Emmy Jamieson arrives in France with her friend Nathan in the fabulously beautiful boarding house in the Loire Valley, the Cour des Roses, she desires nothing more than two weeks of well-deserved rest. There was really a small charge to their relationship. Emmy is confident that the holiday will swell everywhere between them. But they barely pack their bags, Nathan is already tangled up with Rupert, the owner's wife, the cute but by no means chicken Gloria. Rupert, who is already in bad skin and now cuckold, is being knocked in the head. Emmy feels responsible for what happened and, in a generous moment (after a bottle of wine), offers to help with the work around the boarding house: it’s better for her too to change bedding rather than chew on her own misery. The things to do around the boarding house and the vibrant, small-town life irresistibly captivate Emmy. He soon finds himself making a number of new friends. There’s Ryan, the insanely hot garden boy, and Alain, the terribly annoying but better-looking accountant, so Nathan’s memory soon begins to fade. As the pampering mornings with fresh croissants and heavenly coffee go by, and the floral and field-scented evenings, Emmy feels more and more at home at Rupert’s guest house. But who would be able to go so mad as to leave friends, family, work, and all that he worked so much back home in England to put everything on one sheet: a place where he originally just went on holiday ...?
