The complex examination method of rag polysemia in connection with the case study

The book offers a complex, empirical methodology for the functional cognitive investigation of the phenomenon of rag polysemy in relation to the noun case of -nak/-nek. The purpose of the book is to present a semantic analysis method for the analysis of the suffix -to/-, which builds on historical and synchronic corpus analysis, as well as on results from empirical research. The theoretical framework of the study is the functional cognitive language description, which describes the language on the basis of usage, presents linguistic units in the relationship of form and meaning, based on the equality of function and meaning with form. The functional description provides an opportunity for theory and empiricism to be present at the same time in the study presented, so the book presents empirical research in addition to theoretical analyses. Within the framework of functional cognitive grammar and semantics, the thesis also pays attention to dynamic and framework semantic descriptions, constructional analyses, the results of traditional language description, and the results of linguistic historical research. The volume uses both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
