Description
After the teacher and classmates, the built environment is the third pillar of school work. Although the problem of the teaching space has been a concern of researchers for a long time, the past decade has brought a qualitative and quantitative revolution. Architects, psychologists, sociologists, pedagogues and educational science experts are jointly researching possible solutions for the school of the 21st century. Today's endeavors seek to break radically with the 19th century heritage of barracks and classrooms. According to the pedagogical concepts of the reform, friendly learning places are created from the harsh school space: learning streets, learning houses, nooks, open libraries and agoras. This volume is about the antecedents and possibilities of the paradigm shift. In addition to their own research results, the Hungarian, Austrian, German and Belgian authors open a window to the international literature, while also presenting a number of solutions that can be applied in practice.
