Description
Dr. Tamás Veszprémi Szent-Györgyi Albert Prize-winning professor, professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His research interests include molecular spectroscopy and the structural issues of quantum chemistry, mainly inorganic compounds. He is a lecturer in general chemistry and quantum chemistry at the University of Technology. There are many branches of chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, bio- and polymer chemistry, etc.), but a discipline called general chemistry is not known. Yet: the terms General Chemistry, Allgemeine Chemie are well known around the world. There are hundreds of books with such titles all over the world, and there is hardly a faculty of university chemistry where this subject is unknown. The general chemistry courses and the purpose of our book are to help the reader bring their knowledge of chemistry from high school to a level on which the above subjects can be based. Its task is to define the basic concepts, to introduce the basic vocabulary of the chemical language, to shed light on the most important physical and chemical phenomena and connections. The book can be used on several levels, even typographically. His material leads from high school chemistry to the subject of second- and third-year physical chemistry in universities. In addition to the important phenomena, it provides deeper explanations for advanced learners, which beginners can safely skip without compromising their understanding of the main line of thought. The reader is also helped by a number of curiosities, a history of science, a wealth of color illustrations, photographs and hundreds of elaborate examples. So the primary goal of our book is to introduce it, or rather to introduce it to higher chemistry. The target readership is also given: it is for interested high school students as well as first- and second-year university students studying chemistry. It is also recommended for high school chemistry teachers: it contains a number of materials that are easy to use in high schools - different from what is usually taught in high schools. Last but not least, we recommend the book to anyone who has ever tasted or immersed themselves in the exciting world of chemistry at any level.
