Bálint Balassi is the first poet of our literature in today's sense; the creator of love poetry in the national language and the religious lyric of the modem. Conscious creator: he developed his own form of poetry, he introduced a new genre (the shepherd drama). He was the first to turn to the mother tongue as a poet, to shape it into his poetry, and thus to be the custodian of the conventions of Hungarian poetry. Through his oeuvre, Hungarian literature was born, and literature became independent in Hungary. It offers the analysis and interpretation of the famous works of the Hungarian and world literary heritage for high school students, those preparing for the diploma, college students and teachers.
