Wise advice

The book Wise Advices contains 4,000 different proverbs and sayings from the six-volume CzuczorFogarasi Dictionary. The notable work that serves as the source primarily interprets and provides explanations of origin, but it also contains a large number of lexical units, word relationships, sayings and proverbs that are larger than words. The present collection contains a lot of folk observations and life experiences that have now been forgotten, although the truth expressed in it is a useful piece of advice for today's man: Whatever wooden hook you want to be, it bends over time. The shipwright is smarter after a shipwreck. Who lights the fire next to their pot. Many hard trees have soft fruits. Thirsty little consolation in the empty jar. We are sure that the study of proverbs and sayings in one of the most significant works of Hungarian dictionary literature will be a pleasure for many. The centuries-old wisdom and lifestyle advice formulated in proverbs and utterances also serve as a guide for the people of our obsolete age. On the other hand, proverbs and sayings still intertwine our language, thus creating a spiritual connection with the Hungarians of old.
