Description
And now something completely different ... But again, the protagonist is the well-known British comedian and actor John Cleese, who has been a visiting professor at one of America's most famous universities, Cornellen, for nearly twenty years. One by one, the chapters in the book emerged from Cleese’s teaching cloak: the collection of lectures, talks, and essays recalls the best moments of Cleese’s teaching career and faithfully reflects the broad intellectual interest of the actor. Professor Cleese has been sharing his thoughts with students and civil society since 1999, from screenwriting to religion to medicine. His unheard-of-popular workshops and film analyzes under his leadership attracted hundreds to the university's lecture halls. He preached in the Sage Chapel, contributed as a narrator in his symphonic tale of Peter Prokofiev and the Wolf, and gave seminars on screenwriting, psychology in consultation with lecturers, the development of humanity, and the meaning of life. Looking at Professor Cleese's lessons, the volume includes a conversation with screenwriter William Goldman, a lecture on creative thinking, and a reflection on Brian's life, but we can also read about facial recognition difficulties, group dynamics, and fame. In the book, John Cleese not only flashes legendary humor: behind the lyrics emerge the actor’s scholarly self, his spirituality and intelligence that defines his entire career. We have long been able to admire his genius in the films - now we can find out how captivating the cathedral can be. JOHN CLEESE is a comedian, actor, producer and director, guest speaker at Cornell University. He became world-famous with the Monty Python group and later starred in a number of highly successful television series (Waczak Hostel) and movies (Fish Name: Wanda; James Bond: The World Is Not Enough; Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone). He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge and is an Honorary Doctor of the University of St. Andrews, of which he was also Rector for many years.
