To end the darkness

Lutheran pastor Gábor Sztehlo saved the lives of 1,600 Jewish children and 400 adults in his orphanages in 1944-45, during the Arrow Rule and the siege of Budapest. This volume of documents presents a small slice of this work: the life of the Bogárutca home. He wants to reflect the events through the consciousness and memories of the characters, accepting that the history of a people is not only a science reduced to numbers and data, but also a story preserved in our consciousness.
