Description
Although the Teutonic Order was only present in medieval Hungary for a sea for 22 years, and the focus of its activity was in Prussia, by the Baltic Sea, it nevertheless made a considerable impact on the country. Even so, relations between Hungary and the Order - and the interaction with Poland - have been largely neglected by historians. This volume explores the political, military and economic relations between the two actors, from the Teutonic Order's first invitation to Hungary in 1211 to the secularization of the Order's Prussian state in 1525. László Pósán is also a professor at the University of Debrecen. His main research areas include the Teutonic Order, medieval Hungarian-European economic relations, with a special focus on relations between the Hanseatic League and Hungary, and the history of Hungary and Europe in the 10th-15th centuries.
