The Reader holds the work of four French authors who have been active members and opinion leaders of the French Non-Growth Movement for many years. The French edition was published in January 2013 and has since been a resounding success in professional and public life: it has produced tensions within the francophone media such as Le Monde, Liberation or France Culture, as well as members of the readership. The content of the book has been presented in more than fifty lectures in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Prosperity Without Economic Growth, in addition to providing a grueling, brainstorming, and intriguing synthesis of Non-Growth, attempts to outline the main lines of how to achieve this through the combined use of a new economic instrument, the Unconditional Fund Benefit and the Income Ceiling. The book also reports on the signs of societal transformation that are already being experienced today: community-supported agriculture, local money, eco-houses, or transforming cities can serve as familiar practical examples of what we mean by a desirable social order. It proposes unusual concepts in the form of real democracy, social and environmental justice, individual autonomy, meaningful, social coexistence or relocalization, and reforms with monetary policy, the role of central banks, minimum and maximum incomes, and free use of public services. and local economic systems.
