In this publication, we have tried to gather documents from the last years of the writer: letters and diaries that record the events of the last few years: a Hungarian family torn apart by the turmoil of war and subsequent events; a father who, returning to Transylvania, struggling with old age and illness, tries to save the remnants of his fabulous fortune and, in the midst of everyday trouble, to write what he can still write; a mother who is looking for a place in the theatrical world of changed times in Pest and shares her worries between her husband and daughter, who is going home to life, getting married to an American military officer, and sometimes sending home a series of letters about the North African of the world in which he entered as the wife of an officer of a diplomatic corps. In addition to the letters between the father and his daughter, an excerpt from Aranka Váradi's diary is also a curiosity, a history of the period between 1944 and 1952, a daily chronicle of survival in the shadow of war and siege, famine and bombing. And, of course, the lines of the tragedy of Miklós Bánffy, who left again in the last period of his life, this time permanently, returned to Bonchida and Budapest. "When the first pieces of the now-published letter material came to my hands during my research, I first intended to publish only letters written to Miklós Bánffy's sister, Katinka. more and more research opportunities opened up for me, and while my book Kis (Bán) ffy, Bonperida Prospero, was published, I found the volume of Aranka Váradi's diary (so far the only known) from 1942 to 1952. I got to know Katalin Jelen-Bánffy, from whom I received her father. The story of the last years of Miklós Bánffy's life unfolded in me.
