Description
"Pauk is a real Naturtalent: a natural, instinctive talent, the rare, well-heard musician whose fingers go to the right place because his inner hearing is infallible and immediately corrects every little falsehood." Iván Fischer "My life, looking back, at once it seems like a typical artist's destiny from the second half of the 20th century and completely unique. I see it beautiful in retrospect, but I'm lucky: despite some of its sad moments, I saw it beautiful in the meantime, thanks to being able to find the profession that makes me happy. Born in Budapest in 1936, György Pauk is considered by the world to be one of the most significant violinists of his age, the heir and successor of the Hungarian violin school. He began his studies at the Academy of Music as a gifted little boy as a student of Ede Zathureczky. His international career began with the first prize at the 1956 Paganini Competition in Genoa and then the Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris. In 1957, together with Peter Frankl, he won the Munich Sonata Competition. He emigrated to the Netherlands in 1958 and has lived in London since 1961. As a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, he has raised generations of violinists.
