Normal human color perception allows well over 100 colors to be distinguished under appropriate external conditions without having enough words in any language to distinguish them. The boards allow not only ophthalmologists, but especially general practitioners and other specialists, and last but not least assistants, as well as educators, artists, technicians, and other non-health stakeholders, to assess the color perception of a subject with a high probability.
