Regional development in Budapest between 1950 and 1985

The decision-making mechanism and the social background of developments. What should the new Budapest look like? Is there a need for a radical transformation, or should the development of the city proceed on the previously paved road? What should happen to the territories that were annexed to the capital in 1950? How to deal with the serious situation of tens of thousands flowing into the capital? What tools can be used to alleviate the housing shortage? These are just some of the issues that have arisen, according to which discourses took place in the party and council leadership of the capital during the socialist period. The book seeks to describe and analyze these debates, groups representing different positions in the light of the development of the city. The core of the analysis is based on archival material.
