February 2014: Police Captain Inés Picaut is alerted to a fire in the old town of Orléans. This is already the fourth devastating arson attack in a short period of time, and the first to claim a fatality. An extremist Islamic group is taking responsibility for terrorist acts, for which there is no evidence of its existence. Inés must catch the culprits as soon as possible, because elections will soon be held in Orléans, and extremist voices are beginning to dominate the public mood. When the body is identified, it turns out that the victim is a Scottish archeology professor who was working on a research that could radically rewrite the entire history of France. September 1429: Under the leadership of Joan of Arc, the outcome of the Hundred Years' War seems to be reversed. The English troops are laying siege to Orléans, and Tomas Rustbeard, the Duke of Bedford's top spy, can finally target the Virgin. However, he is well aware that murder is not enough: he must destroy the legend from which the French draw their faith and strength. And for this, he has to get close to Jeanne dArc to find out who this supposedly illiterate peasant girl is, who is not only an excellent war strategist, but also a rider who puts men to shame and a fearless warrior.
