Description
András Székely (abroad André de Székely, 1919-2008), vice-president of the ABC film production department of one of the largest American television companies, was rich in adventures and successes, as evidenced by interviews with him in recent months. The story of his bohemian years in pre-war Budapest and abroad, spent in the company of influential aristocrats, famous actors and actresses who graduated from the Academy of Theater, unfolds from the narratives, often in a Swiss tone, which testify to incredible self-confidence. We can learn about the "adventures" of World War II from the French Foreign Legion to the attempt to escape. This period was ended by five years of Soviet captivity. We can read particularly interesting details about his relationship with István Ujszászy, whom he met at the Krasnogorsk prison camp, and about the bride of the legendary "spy general", Katalin Karády. The latter had a good relationship from the second half of the 1930s until the actress' death. Among the lines is the picture of the theatrical world of Budapest between 1950 and 1956, and its integration into the artistic and cultural life of the United States after emigration. During his long life, András Székely came into contact with the French, Hungarian, German, Soviet and American secret services again. Only a vague, often misleading picture emerges from the conversations - inviting the reader into an exciting adventure.
