Flag in the wind

With the need to write the monograph, Márta Csontos presents the life of the Transylvanian poet Sándor Reményik in a detailed and analytical way. The author is well acquainted with the literature of the period, the various opinions on "cross-border literature", and assigns his chosen hero to the concept of unified Hungarian literature, richly documenting the importance and role of regionalism. Márta Csontos also strives for new research and new findings. By exploring hitherto unpublished documents, he contributes not only to Sándor Reményik, but also to a more authentic knowledge of Hungarian literature in Transylvania in general. In his interpretation of the poetic world of Sándor Reményik, he presents in detail the originality and significance of the Saxon identity in Transylvania. In addition to his philological merits, the author of the study managed to form a comprehensive picture of the world of ideas and poetic aspirations of Hungarian literature in Transylvania between the two world wars.
