Description
On July 7, 2007, Joe Zawinul celebrated his 75th birthday. With this book, the Publisher greeted the artist on this occasion. Back then, no one could have guessed that he would survive the notable anniversary in just two months. He died on September 11, 2007. For the first time in the volume, he reports on his life and vast career. An exciting and authentic dialogue has emerged: Zawinul as the world sees him - and even more so Zawinul as he sees the world. He was born in 1932 in Vienna. He began his spectacular career in the United States in 1957. In the sixties, he was a pianist for the most successful band of the age, the Cannonball Adderley Band. In 1969-1970, he contributed with his band Miles Davis on the recordings of the leading albums of jazz-rock, on the albums In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew. In 1971, together with saxophonist Wayne Shorter, they formed their jazz super band: Weather Report. The album Heavy Weather with the hit number Birdland from 1977 is one of the most successful jazz records of all time. After the dissolution of Weather Report - since 1986 - the keyboardist has traveled the world with his new team, Zawinul Syndicate. He has given concerts in Hungary several times, giving his penultimate concert in Veszprém. A must-read for all Zawinul fans, but for those who didn’t know, a XX. The exciting life of an artist of Hungarian origin from the 19th century comes to life with the help of the book.
