Description
"On December 14, 1944, we crossed the border at Rábafüzes." After the end of the Second World War, many people fled Hungary. For us, except for the closest family circle, we lost contact with everyone. As I began collecting the addresses of long-lost relatives scattered around the world, I realized that not many of my generation were left to remember old times. In the past, the oldest members of the family have shared their memories with future generations. What I heard from my grandparents happened mostly back in the 19th century. I would like to give my readers an insight into a busy era through partly personal, partly family, partly historical events. I was born in Póstelke, Békés County, in 1926, and in baptism I was named Krisztina Károlyi Mária Franciska Ilona Zsófia. I was a Countess, nicknamed Ditta as a child, because my brother could not pronounce the nickname of my first name, Christ. Ever since I arrived in England in 1948, I have been using the English version of my last name, Sophie - the author begins "family history", then gallops through history and draws the entire Károlyi family from the early Middle Ages to the present, meaning they come to the fore. also the chronicles of the living descendants of Károlyi. The album, compiled with sumptuous imagery, is a complete repertoire, with the presentation of events and legends, castles, balls and political roles. arbitrarily readable. The special edition is a unique and gap-filling representative work, guiding around half a thousand color and black-and-white images through centuries and unknown stories, through the secrets of chiefs, warlords, patrons, ministers, and the prime minister and president.
