Dear Brother Martin! Dear Brother Ferenc!

The fictitious exchange of letters between the reformer Martin Luther and Pope Francis is historically impossible. At the same time, it is very exciting for these two prominent individuals of Christianity, who represent two of the major denominations, to enter into a dialogue with each other. What would these two people with very different temperaments write to each other? What topics would be addressed in the light of the traditions that have developed in the meantime? The two denominations had been separated for five hundred years. Today's conditions no longer correspond to the situation at the beginning of the 16th century. What would they say about faith, the church, the church office? In relation to the most important topics raised by Martin Luther five hundred years ago, they both take a stand in the letters of this book. Serenity, patience, seriousness, and the pursuit of peace characterize these writings. I wish that during the Reformation the participants in the conflict would have shown such serenity, patience, seriousness and peace to one another! How much suffering could have been avoided by the people of Europe, but also by the Christian churches worldwide!
