István Lepsényi

The person of István Lepsényi guarantees the quality of the highest level of engineering and management work in the world. Its name is intertwined with the success story of the once most important Hungarian factory, Ikarus, which lasted until the change of regime. At the head of the Car Group, it prepared the ground for the production of Hungarian cars, so that the project could be realized despite the fact that the first Suzuki factory in Hungary was inaugurated in Esztergom. The oiled cooperation of the two completely different working methods is the diplomatic merit of Lepsényi. His unquenchable interest led him to the head of Knorr-Bremse Fékrendszert Kft., Where he made significant developments. His energy is almost inexhaustible: he’s mostly on a business trip and doesn’t work less today than he used to go to the Ikarus site. When he had to learn Japanese, he learned Japanese, read fiction on several hours of train journeys a day, and if he needed a technical consultation, he had no reluctance to visit his old colleagues. His career is intertwined with that of excellent engineering teachers such as Dr. László Palkovics, Pál Michelberger or Mátyás Jakab. The latter two experts, as well as László Kapolyi, supplement Lepsényi's story in this volume as well: how a new one could be created in the decaying Hungarian socialism. The hero of our volume, in addition to the basics of science, met someone else during his time as a technical university student in Leningrad: his future wife. The former collegiate couple has now become a grandparent, although István Lepsényi is not the embodiment of a grandfather sitting in a rocking chair. That as his days go by, it is also clear from the volume that shows his life path. Zsuzsa Szentgyörgyi electrical engineer, nuclear engineer, doctor. During his career, he was an industrial engineer, a scientific researcher and a middle manager in public administration. He is currently a freelance writer. He is the author, co-author or editor of about 50 scientific and nearly 800 scientific and technical articles, as well as 20 books.
