Péter Rákos (1925-2002)

Péter Rákos, a Hungarian literary historian from the Highlands, an essayist, a critic, a translator, and for a long time the leader of the Hungarian seminary at the Charles University in Prague, belonged to a type that may not exist today, but is in any case extinct. Among those urban Hungarian intellectuals in the Highlands, whose spirituality could be marked by the name of Sándor Márai. The former students, friends and admirers of Péter Rákos, the scholarly teacher, the pedagogue, and the authentic mediator between Hungarian and Czech culture, commemorate him with this volume.
