Description
The authors of the volume draw an arc of the medieval history of the Hungarian parliaments. Within each era, the history of parliaments is examined from the same perspectives and their most important characteristics are reported. In addition to presenting the temporal and spatial distribution of the meetings, they also provide an overview of their personal composition, debates, legislation, and daily life. The historical arch spans three well-separable historical periods, and they also have specific, unique features. The parliaments of medieval Hungary were held by rulers who considered Hungary to be their most important country and most often resided there. After the country was divided into three parts, the so-called "royal" part of the country became a small part of the Habsburg Empire, whose ruler rarely set foot on Hungarian soil. Between 1703 and 1711, the Hungarian orders opposed to the Habsburg ruler, under the control of their prince, held their national rallies under conditions of war. Based on the latest research results, the authors present the significant institutional historical features arising from these.
