Description
A novel by Nobel laureate Claude Simon, The Story of a Single Day, in a well-distinguished order of times of the day. All we know about the historical time of this day is that sometime during the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War. may be after World War II. One of the strands of the narrative is the history of ordinary events, but their description is constantly broken by the myth, that is, the space-time-breaking poetic rhythmic of mythical remembrance. The alternation of the two types of memory, the ordinary and the mythical constant, fills the text with a strange, characteristic, dramatic tension. It is poetic prose, a prose poem. Claude Simon's oeuvre has been translated into about twenty languages since the mid-1960s, but so far, with the exception of a few fragments, none of his works have been published in Hungarian. The Hungarian edition of Történet, which received the Medici Prize in 1967, is a satisfaction for the writer's omission at home.
