Description
This realistic, often creepy story takes place in the first thirty-seven years of the 20th century. The commemoration is about the journey full of illusions, sufferings and fights that Béla Frankl became Máté Zalka and then General Lukács. After the general died a heroic death in the Spanish Civil War, a number of legends born of fictional fantasy polished his name. The author of the article, which now brings her closer to him again, is the daughter of Zalka's niece, who brings her hero closer with the help of the family archive, among other things, by processing her mother's correspondence. His work was motivated by the belief that Zalka's humanity, his actions, his belief in the possibility of a more just world, his sacrifice and his struggle against fascism are still relevant and exemplary today. As Tamás Krausz writes, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of his death, the Western press also commemorated General Luke and the International Brigade fighting fascism. Now the dice are turning in his homeland, Hungary as well. Thanks to the intelligent and devoted 'memory' of Judit Lőcsei, the human figure of Máté Zalka stands before us in its full size.
