Description
The story of the Three Kingdoms attributed to Luo Guanzhong is the earliest of the four classic Chinese novels. Its history takes place at the turbulent time of the end of the Han era, the fall of the Han dynasty, spanning more than a hundred years of ancient Chinese history. Our book is the first volume of a Chinese novel entitled Three Kingdoms. The entire work includes 120 chapters, of which our volume contains the first forty. Born in the fourteenth century, it is the earliest of four major novels in Chinese classical literature. Its author is considered to be Luo Guanzhong. Its history takes place at the turbulent time of the end of the Han era, the fall of the Han dynasty, from 169 to 280, spanning more than a hundred years of ancient Chinese history. Warfare, intrigue, loyalty, and betrayal — just a few keywords from a series of motifs that contain much more. Lots of interesting characters, very exciting events unfold before us on the pages. The work mostly deals with real historical events, but it also contains imaginary, mythical parts. It is still one of the most popular literary works in East Asia today, and its impact is about as significant as in the West, for example, Dante’s Divine Play or Shakespeare’s entire work. The first volume of the first complete Hungarian translation is a monumental volume of more than eight hundred pages. It contains eighty authentic illustrations, two fold-out and seven additional color maps, a detailed name index and notes. With its execution, we also tried to give this great text a worthy shape: a hardboard, a golden canvas binding, and two ribbons make reading even more pleasant and enjoyable.
